Emily Bazin, BA
Emily (she/her) earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from American University. She is currently completing the second year of her masters degree at Smith College School for Social Work. Emily is passionate about working with children and adolescents, and did so for years prior to entering graduate school. She has experience engaging therapeutically with children, adolescents, and families in a variety of settings, including a behavioral health summer camp and inpatient/residential care. She also has facilitated adolescent therapeutic groups centered on emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and social skills.
Emily brings to her work a knowledge base rooted in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), trauma informed approaches, and crisis management. More recently, she has focused on relational methodologies, with a belief that bringing more of herself into the therapy office can promote growth and change in her clients.
Play, trust, and authenticity are at the center of Emily’s practice. She looks to ground her clients in mutuality, finding it crucial that the treatment feel co-created. She often draws from an identity exploration approach, facilitating discovery of clients' values and strengths, and then using these discoveries to make meaning of life's challenges.
Emily is available to meet with children, adolescents, and adults.
